The '''Poltergust G-00''' ({{ja|オバキューム|Obakyūmu}}, ''Obacuum''), appearing as '''Poltergust 5000''' in ''[[Super Smash Bros. 4]]'', is [[Luigi]]'s [[Final Smash]] in ''Super Smash Bros. 4'' and ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'', replacing [[Negative Zone]] from ''Brawl''. The Poltergust G-00 is also used in his [[grab]] in the latter game.

==As a Final Smash==
===Poltergust 5000===
In ''Super Smash Bros. 4'', when performing this move, Luigi starts by trying to trap opponents and items close to him inside the vacuum. Upon activation, Luigi will automatically sweep the vacuum's suction around him radially - a couple sweeps in front, once behind, then a few more in front - remaining in place for the move's duration, even when used in the air. If any opponents are caught in the initial pass, they receive up to 30% damage before Luigi shoots them out upward diagonally, causing an additional 10% damage and tremendous knockback. Opponents caught will receive the same amount of damage regardless of the time they were sucked in (their percentages increases faster to compensate). Some types of items can be shot out at the end of the move, further damaging opponents as they travel and it is possible to pick them up afterward. Foes sent flying will potentially collide with each other (excluding [[Team Battle]]s), also causing even more damage. If neither opponents nor eligible items are caught, the Final Smash will fail. It can't suck in opponents behind solid walls. If used in midair, Luigi will bounce upwards once the move ends to aid recovery.

The items Luigi can shoot out include the [[Steel Diver]], [[Fire Flower]], [[Gust Bellows]], [[Ray Gun]], [[Super Scope]], [[Beam Sword]], [[Drill]], [[Fire Bar]], [[Star Rod]], [[Ore Club]], and [[Home-Run Bat]].

===Poltergust G-00===
In ''Super Smash Bros. Ultimate'', it is renamed as it now uses the design of the Poltergust with the same name from ''Luigi's Mansion 3''. It remains functionally identical except that there is a much longer time between the opponents being shot out.

Under certain circumstances, an opponent in the path of a careening fighter will not take any damage or knockback. In ''Ultimate'', the Poltergust G-00 also acts as Luigi's grab and [[grab aerial]]. It is a fairly unconventional grab aerial, as it can't be used as a [[tether recovery]]; however, unlike other grab aerials, the plungers shot by the Poltergust are projectiles that will slowly fall down after the move is used with a weak hitbox active. If his normal grab misses, the projectile will appear even on the ground, making it useful for edgeguarding.

==Trophies==
The Poltergust 5000 has two trophies in ''Super Smash Bros. 4''. The Final Smash trophy is exclusive to {{forwiiu}} and the trophy for the Poltergust itself is exclusive to {{for3ds}}. The trophy in the NTSC 3DS version says it is the Poltergust 3000, this is a mistake as the 3000 model has a red light on the top of it whereas the on one depicted has a green light and extra buttons on the back, the same as the 5000 model&mdash;this was corrected in the PAL release.

The {{s|mariowiki|Poltergust 5000}} debuted in ''{{s|mariowiki|Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon}}'', where it was an upgrade of the {{s|mariowiki|Poltergust 3000}} that was used in ''{{s|mariowiki|Luigi's Mansion}}'' for the [[Nintendo GameCube]]. It was found by Luigi in the {{s|mariowiki|Gloomy Manor}} inside a car. Luigi also needed to find the Strobulb and the Dark-Light to help him on his quest. Poltergust 5000 is Luigi's weapon for the entire game, constantly gaining upgrades as Luigi collects money throughout the game.

The {{s|mariowiki|Poltergust G-00}} formally debuted in ''{{s|mariowiki|Luigi's Mansion 3}}'', 11 months after first appearing in ''Ultimate''. Like in ''Smash'', it can shoot plungers that can be used as projectiles or to pull objects towards Luigi. A later upgrade to the Poltergust via an electrical socket allows its suction power to increase to its maximum, referencing the Final Smash with the lightning effects that show up when performing the move. The Poltergust G-00 name is a pun on "goo," referring to Luigi’s green doppelgänger {{s|mariowiki|Gooigi}}, for whom the Poltergust G-00 doubles as a storage unit for.

The Japanese name of the Poltergust, is a portmanteau of the Japanese word for ghost/monster (obake) and the English word "vacuum".

*Poltergust 5000 is one of the few moves in ''Smash 4'' which allow [[careening]] fighters to damage other fighters, despite this property being removed from general gameplay since ''Brawl''.
*When Luigi uses moves that involve Poltergust G-00, his animations are not mirrored; that means he can show his back whenever he uses Poltergust G-00.
*The Poltergust G-00's suction cup is portrayed differently in Simon's reveal trailer, in actual gameplay, and in ''Luigi's Mansion 3''. The trailer shows it as a simple plunger fired from the nozzle, ''Ultimate'' portrays it with the plunger attached to the Poltergust with a string at all times, and ''Luigi's Mansion 3'' has it fired as a projectile with a knotted rope for Luigi to suck in with the vacuum itself.
