It ran from 6 a.m. on November 15, 2019 to 6 a.m. on November 18, 2019 ({{s|wikipedia|UTC}}), coinciding with the release of the newest entry in the series at the time of the Tourney, [[bulbapedia:Pokémon Sword and Shield|''Pokémon Sword'' and ''Shield'']]. During the event, only characters and stages from the ''Pokémon'' series could be used. Additionally, only ''Pokémon'' [[spirit]]s were awarded as prizes.

*Despite the event being named after ''Pokémon Sword'' and ''Shield'', a majority of the playable Pokémon were absent from said games at launch; only [[Charizard]], [[Pichu]], [[Pikachu]], and [[Lucario]] were present at release.

**[[Ivysaur]], [[Squirtle]], [[Mewtwo]] and [[Incineroar]] are fully coded in the games' data, but were unobtainable until the release of ''{{iw|bulbapedia|Pokémon HOME}}''. [[Jigglypuff]] would not be added into the game until the ''Isle of Armor'' update, and [[Greninja]] is completely absent altogether.
