He is the one who made Olimar have to return to the Pikmin planet because he ate a load of Golden Pik Pik carrots which seemed to be very valuable. He was raised by his grandmother who made him eat bugs and play with them, which helps him survive when Olimar accidentally leaves him on the planet. Louie is a playable character in the game's single and multiplayer modes.

*His name in Japanese (Lugii) is an anagram of [[Luigi]] as Olimar (Orima) is to [[Mario]]. Their proportions are also relatively similar to Luigi and Mario, respectively.
*As mentioned above, a costume of Olimar's closely remembles Louie. In the two player [[All-Star]] mode, the player faces two Olimars in the last round; the second Olimar has the "Louie" colour scheme. 
*In Pikmin 2 Louie had a whistle different to Olimar's which sounded somewhat like a harmonica.
