It's weird. They burst like an Instant KO but also seem to have a blast line KO? It seems to exist so that opponents on the rear tentacles are KOd when the Octopus would've despawned via the blast line. I got it to work on Training but KOF is easier to see

Ok it looks like depending on his speed, they sometimes will be KOd off the side

This has nothing to do with walls, it's just how the move works. Octopus will always despawn before caught fighters actually reach the blast zone, so the game just instantly KOs them.
