It debuted in the series' [[bulbapedia:Generation VII|seventh generation]] as {{iw|bulbapedia|Alola}}'s final stage [[bulbapedia:Fire (type)|Fire-type]] [[bulbapedia:Starter Pokémon|starter Pokémon]], and represents that generation as a playable character in ''[[Super Smash Bros. ==Character description==
Incineroar is a bipedal, feline Pokémon, and is categorized within the Pokédex as the "Heel Pokémon". Incineroar is a dual Fire/Dark-type Pokémon, and is the final evolved form of {{iw|bulbapedia|Litten|Pokémon}}, after having evolved from {{iw|bulbapedia|Torracat|Pokémon}} at level 34 onward. As Litten, it is one of the {{iw|bulbapedia|Alola}} region's three [[bulbapedia:Starter Pokémon|starter Pokémon]].

True to its Pokédex categorization, Incineroar behaves much like a {{iw|wikipedia|heel|professional wrestling}} in professional wrestling. It is known for being selfish, egotistical to the point of ignoring its own Trainer's commands on a whim, and brutal to the point of even attacking the opposing Pokémon's Trainer. However, Incineroar gets bored when facing weaker opponents and, like [[Charizard]], becomes more motivated when fighting challenging ones. In addition to using a mix of punches and kicks, Incineroar can emit streams of flame from its navel. On a related note, it is typically seen with flames ringed around its waist, which fittingly resemble a championship belt.

Incineroar's default {{iw|bulbapedia|Ability}} is {{iw|bulbapedia|Blaze|Ability}}, which increases its Attack and Special Attack by 50% when using a Fire-type move while it has a third or less of its Hit Points remaining. Its Hidden Ability is {{iw|bulbapedia|Intimidate}}, which decreases the opponent's Attack by one stage whenever Incineroar enters a battle. Like {{iw|bulbapedia|Decidueye|Pokémon}} and {{iw|bulbapedia|Primarina|Pokémon}}, its fellow fully evolved Alola starter Pokémon, Incineroar has both a {{iw|bulbapedia|signature move}} and signature {{iw|bulbapedia|Z-Move}}. In Incineroar's case, it can learn {{iw|bulbapedia|Darkest Lariat|move}}, which can be converted into {{iw|bulbapedia|Malicious Moonsault|move}} as long as it holds {{iw|bulbapedia|Incinium Z}}.

Thanks to Incineroar's above-average Attack stat, respectable overall defenses, potent offensive typing, and the utility provided by both Intimidate and its moveset, it is renowned as one of the most useful Pokémon within the competitive ''Pokémon'' metagame's {{iw|bulbapedia|double battle}}s format. However, Incineroar's low Speed and vulnerability to common attacking types generally result in it struggling in single battles, and thus being placed within that format's lower tiers.

In the ''Pokémon'' anime, Incineroar appears as the [[bulbapedia:Professor Kukui's Incineroar|main Pokémon]] of [[bulbapedia:Professor Kukui (anime)|Professor Kukui]] while under his Masked Royal persona. It developed a rivalry with [[bulbapedia:Ash Ketchum|Ash's]] [[bulbapedia:Ash's Torracat|Torracat]] and is shown to be incredibly powerful in battle. In ''[[bulbapedia:M21|I Choose You!]]'', an Incineroar appears under the ownership of {{iw|bulbapedia|Cross}}, the movie's main antagonist.

Incineroar appears as a [[newcomer]] in ''Super Smash Bros. Ultimate''. It was revealed during a [[Nintendo Direct]] on November 1st, 2018, alongside {{SSBU|Ken}} and {{SSBU|Piranha Plant}}. Incineroar functions as a wrestler-like fighter that excels at hitting hard, as it possesses heavily damaging moves and powerful throws that can KO very early, despite having average frame data. However, it is also the slowest fighter in the game and suffers from a notably poor recovery.
