The Showdown is the 51st and final event match of the 51 event matches in Super Smash Bros. Melee, unlocked upon clearing the previous 50 events, as well as clearing Classic Mode and Adventure Mode at least once (the player does not need to fight Giga Bowser).

The player controls a fighter of their choice and must win a 3 stock match against Giga Bowser and a CPU Ganondorf and Mewtwo on the Final Destination stage. This event match does not feature a time limit. The CPU Ganondorf and Mewtwo's artificial intelligence is set at Level 5, while Giga Bowser's artificial intelligence is set at Level 6.
Event 51: The Showdown is the final Event in Super Smash Bros. Melee. This Event Match gives you a choice of any character. You'll have 3 stock, and your opponents, Giga Bowser, Ganondorf, and Mewtwo also have 3 stock each. You play on Final Destination, which you unlock after clearing this. To get this Event Match, clear the first 50 events.

When the match starts, the player's fighter will spawn on the left side of the stage, while Mewtwo, Giga Bowser, and Ganondorf will spawn on the right side of the stage in that order.
Strategies
Jigglypuff
Damage Giga Bowser a little bit, then jump into him and KO him with Rest (Down B). Do that 2 more times, and then try and do the same to Ganondorf and Mewtwo. You can also trying flying around waiting for good items to show up, though Resting is quicker. Since Ganondorf heavily overuses his up+B, you can Rest him if you can coordinate his landing point.

Despite being the final event match and arguably the most difficult under normal circumstances, the opponents themselves are weaker than usual; Ganondorf and Mewtwo are only level 5, while Giga Bowser is level 6 (and Giga Bowser's artificial intelligence almost never shields). Additionally, they all deal decreased knockback (only a slight 5% decrease for Ganondorf and Mewtwo, but a large 35% decrease for Giga Bowser), and Giga Bowser also sustains 50% more knockback himself (despite the massive increase in knockback sustained, Giga Bowser still sustains less knockback than every regular playable character, just now slightly less than the heaviest characters).
However, if the Rest move were to miss, Jigglypuff would simply fall asleep, leaving her vulnerable to attack.

The event match's difficulty comes from the player simply being overwhelmed, by the opponents controlling most of the stage, opposing hitboxes covering a large amount of the stage most of the time, and the player sustaining massive damage whenever caught by any of the opponents. Additionally, Giga Bowser's size gives him massive reach, enough to cover nearly half the stage, necessitating aerial approaches. This will leave the player heavily vulnerable to Ganondorf's frequent Dark Dives (who is also often behind Giga Bowser, leaving him usually safe from the player's aerial attacks, and making it easy for him to catch the player with the move), requiring a player to either hit him out of it with an aerial attack or dodge and punish. The lack of Friendly Fire also means that players cannot attempt to get the three to inflict damage to each other, with the exception of potential artificial intelligence exploits. With there being three opponents controlling most of the stage, it can also be difficult to get items before the opponents do.
Peach
Use your floating skill and parasol to float over their heads, waiting for any good items to appear. Peach may be able to do that but that doesn't mean she just there to stay airbourne. Float over Giga Bowser and do Down A. Once you hit the ground, don't hesitate to do this, use Peach's Parasol. This will get Giga Bowser in his twenties; repeat this method repeatedly and while Giga Bowser is up in the air from Peach' parasol, use her Smash A to KO' him or kick him further up. If he's not paralyzed from the attack he might try to Hip-Drop on you. While Giga Bowser is in the air, push Ganondorf and Mewtwo. Repeat this and if they get high enough, use her Smash A Up. If Giga Bowser didn't die from her Smash A, just go airbourne again and this time use Side A to hit him with her crown. This should KO him if his percentage is high enough. Also, after using the parasol on Giga Bowser, use her Smash Down A and this should do a lot of damage and also get Ganondorf and Mewtwo in it. After Giga Bowser is gone. Attack Ganondorf and Mewtwo. Be crafty, especially around Ganondorf becuase his attacks could send Peach flying especially when she has high percentage.

Similar to Multi-Man Melee, some items do not spawn in the event match due to being too powerful if the player grabs them first, or making the event match too difficult if an opponent grabs them first. These items include the Hammer, the Home-Run Bat, both Poison and Super Mushrooms, and Starman. Container items, with the exception of the Party Ball, also cannot appear. In addition, no healing items can spawn in the mode; as a result, Chansey, when spawned from a Poké Ball, will only be able to drop throwable eggs; however, Legendary Poké Ball Pokémon can still spawn from Poké Balls and Party Balls full of Bob-ombs can still appear.
Fox/Falco
Go to the edge of the stage and start using the blaster (B) on them to weaken them. When they get near you, Fire Fox/Bird (Up B) or Fox Illusion/Falco Phantasm (Left/Right B) over to the other edge and reapeat. Continue this. Once they're at a considerable damage percentage, attack them with a smash attack.

Clearing this event match will reward the player with the Final Destination stage and trophy. A special notice is displayed if the event match is cleared without losing a stock, stating, "You cleared Event 51, The Showdown, with no falls!"
With Fox, it's best to get Giga Bowser out of the way first, because then all you have to do is keep firing your laser at Mewtwo and Ganondorf until they are around 80-90%, and then finish them off with an up-smash. This is simple because they'll keep putting their shields up. Your blaster will eventually break them, thus enabling you to come in with a charged Smash attack. (Fox's Up-smash is the 2nd most powerful in the game, with only Pikachu's being stronger.)

Trivia
Zelda
*The opponents in this event match are each main antagonists from highly represented universes who share a darkness attack: Giga Bowser from the Super Smash Bros. universe (the gargantuan version of Bowser from the Mario universe), Ganondorf from the The Legend of Zelda universe, and Mewtwo from the Pokémon universe in Pokémon The First Movie: Mewtwo Strikes Back.
Spam Zelda's dash attack on Mewtwo, while using Zelda's Fsmash on Giga Bowser. Giga Bowser's frame is so large that he cannot escape it. If you get knock off the stage, return with a Nair, not a Fair. If your Fair is slightly off, you'll be punished. A Nair is helpful because, once again, due to his large frame, bowser can not escape it, and it racks up damage fast. Zelda's up&B is a great thing to help you when you're being spammed. The first hit of the move will send your enemy's upwards, letting you get away safely. Once their damages are high, try a SH Fair, Dsmash or Fsmash.
*The final event match in Brawl, Event 41: The FINAL, Final Battle, is similar to this event match, with Giant Mario replacing Giga Bowser, and Sonic and Snake replacing Ganondorf and Mewtwo. Both event matches are also battled on the Final Destination stage and share a Japanese name.
*The music track that plays in this event match, "Multi-Man Melee 2", has not played in any other event match since Event 1: Trouble King. In this regard, the two event matches can serve as bookends of the mode.
*Coincidentally, Simon fights the same three opponents in this event in Round 5 of his Classic Mode route in Ultimate. The only two differences are that Simon fights all three opponents on the default form of the Reset Bomb Forest stage rather than Final Destination or any Ω form, and Simon battles a normal-sized Bowser instead, as Giga Bowser himself is only a standalone boss in Adventure Mode: World of Light and Mario & Captain Falcon's Classic Mode routes each.

How TO KO'd easily
Mewtwo: When at the start of the battle, try to stall for a few seconds, letting Ganondorf walk towards where you are currently. Then head left and just off the edge to let the enemies walk to the edge. Stall them by keep not being on ground(Use Kirby or Jigglypuff for best results) and Mewtwo should be charging while you are far from the edge. Giga Bowser and Ganondorf should push Mewtwo off while he charging and get Ko'd. Try not to let Mewtwo fully charged and Mewtwo must be closing to the edge for this to work. Repeat this process three times for Mewtwo to get defeated.

Ganondorf: Hang at the edge and keep hanging on. If Ganondorf is closing to you and the edge, jump high and Ganondorf will likely (Up+B) you. If he misses, he will fall off the stage.

Giga Bowser:Go to the edge at the beginning and then Giga Bowser might do a (Down+ B)on you. Shield yourself with the Z button, and then Giga Bowser can slide fall the edge and get KO'd. He can also get push off the edge while breathing fire and can fall off while attacking you when you are far from either edge and fall and do a spin attack, but fail or to a slash while it is near one edge and KO'd itself..

World Record-
The quickest way ever is to use Mario, continuously drop down, use up b to edge hog, Mewtwo and Giga Bowser kill themselves, Ganondorf is a bit harder but he also kills himself sometimes also; exploit the dumb computers.

Rewards
After beating this event, Final Destination is unlocked as a playable VS. mode stage. You get a special message if you clear the event without losing a life.
