A stage based on the original 1989 '''Game Boy''' will appear in {{for3ds}}. Apparently, turning on the [[Nintendo 3DS]]'s 3D feature will make it look like there is a Game Boy inside the screen.

*The [[Pic of the day]] from [http://www.ssbwiki.com/images/8/82/SSB3DS_Game_Boy_stage.jpg August 8, 2014] that features the monochrome {{SSB4|Kirby}} and {{SSB4|King Dedede}} [[Palette swap (SSB4)|costumes]] is likely a reference to ''{{s|wikirby|Kirby's Dream Land}}'', which debuted on the system. Incidentally, the ''[[Super Smash Bros. (universe)|Super Smash Bros.]]'' and ''[[Kirby (universe)|Kirby]]'' series were also directed by [[Masahiro Sakurai]].
