'''Bowser Jr.''' was unofficially revealed as a playable character in ''[[Super Smash Bros. 4]]'' via [[Leak#ESRB leak|leaked videos]] from footage used by ESRB to rate the game. He was leaked again in a official {{forwiiu}} screenshot on the [[Super Smash Bros. 4 Official Site|official website]] before finally being officially revealed on October 23, 2014. He and {{SSB4|Rosalina}} appear as newcomers that represent the ''[[Mario (universe)|Mario]] series''.
==Attributes==
What makes Bowser Jr. unique is that he rides in the [[Junior Clown Car]], his personal Koopa Clown Car. This makes him a very heavy character (tied with {{SSB4|Charizard}}). While in the Clown Car, he can use various weapons from the ''Mario series'' in a similar way to {{SSB4|Mr. Game & Watch}} and {{SSB4|Mega Man}}.
*Attacks that strike the Clown Car will deal 0.88x damage, whereas those that hit Bowser Jr. himself will deal 1.15x damage.<ref>[http://smashboards.com/threads/bowser-jr-s-damage-mitigation-mechanic.369430/]</ref>
*Unlike the other characters, Bowser Jr. does not change colors, but is instead replaced by one of the [[Koopalings]].
Aesthetically, Bowser Jr. looks more realistic than in the ''Mario'' games, with a similar color scheme to Bowser's appearance in ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl''.

Complete one of the following:
* Play 100 VS Matches.
* As {{SSB4|Bowser}}, complete Classic Mode on Intensity 6.0 or higher.
After completing one of the two methods, Bowser Jr. must then be defeated on [[3D Land]].

Bowser Jr. does not have to be unlocked in the Wii U version.

==Trivia==
*Bowser Jr. is the only fighter who does not have an alternate costume that shares the name as the default costume or is a palette swap of the original costume. Due to this, he's one of two characters to use his default color scheme in his All-Star trophy, the other being {{SSB4|R.O.B.}} (to a certain extent).
*Because Bowser Jr.'s placement in [[All-Star Mode]] is based on his debut rather than that of the [[Koopalings]] (who debuted before him), the Koopalings will be misplaced chronologically during All-Star Mode if the opponent's costume is a Koopaling. The same applies to {{SSB4|Olimar}} and [[Alph]].
*Bowser Jr. is the only character where all 8 of his palette swaps completely change design.
