Bomberman has a Mega Man character (written as Bomb Man in the stage select), and there are many former Hudson Bomberman characters, but the main character has a proper individual name called White Bomber.

He does appear in the ending of Lode Runner, though, which predates his proper debut in Bomberman NES. Also, Bomberman on NES came out in 1985 at the earliest.
