Birdo appears as a stage hazard in [[Mushroom Kingdom II]]. It appears on either side of the screen, shoot three [[supermariowiki:Birdo Egg|eggs]] from its mouth and then exits on the side of the screen where it came from. Any [[character]] that makes contact with the egg will take [[damage]]. The eggs can be [[shield]]ed, [[jump]]ed on, and [[air grab]]bed, and sometimes [[item]]s come out of them. It is possible to attack Birdo, who flashes blue when taking damage, and even [[KO]] it, but no bonus points are awarded and it will return to the stage later on.

==Origin==
Birdo is a recurring character and species in the {{uv|Mario}} games. It first appeared in ''{{s|mariowiki|Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic}}'' as a recurring boss: it attacks by shooting eggs at the player, and is defeated by grabbing the flying eggs and throwing them back at it three times. Later levels introduce differently-colored versions which also attack with fireballs.
