Wings of Icarus

Wings of Icarus (Wings of Pegasus in the original Kid Icarus game) is Pit's third jump. This makes his wings glow a blue color, and gives him the ability to fly for a short period of time. The initial "flash" will stop a projectile for a split second, but interrupt the move. It also pushes enemies and items away.

This move is arguably one of the best recovery moves in the game, as Pit is capable of flying up past the upper death line (but not getting ringed out because he is not in a stunned animation), and flying around the bottom of most stages with this move alone. He can even pull off the Reverse Hyrule Jump with just using this move alone. It moves even higher performed from the ground.

The only downside to this move is that while using this move, if Pit is hit, he cannot use it again until he lands. If Pit's feet touch the ground while using Wings of Icarus, he can re-use all of his mid-air jumps and even Wings of Icarus again provided he cancels the first or is hit by an opponent. This can be repeated as to give Pit an infinite amount of jumps.

Under close examination, the move ends quickly if you reverse directions.

The move is based on the Angel Feather item from Kid Icarus, which allowed him to fly back up should he fall of the bottom of the screen, or the Wings of Pegasus, one of the three Sacred Treasures, which allowed Pit to fly freely.

It is possible to not go into helplessness by canceling the move using an aerial attack during it.

When Pit is in metal form, neither his jumps nor "Wings of Icarus" lift him off the ground.
