Mettaur (メットール, Mettōru), also known a Met, are enemies from the Mega Man series to appear in the Smash Run mode for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS.

Origin

Mettaurs are enemy from the Mega Man universe that first appeared in the first Mega Man game. Since its debut, it has appeared in every Mega Man series except Mega Man Legends. In the original series, which is the version that appears in Super Smash Bros. 4, Mettaurs typically wear helmets that protects them from attacks while they hide underground. When Mega Man is close, they will pop out their faces and shoot projectiles in three directions (one in a horizontal direction and two in diagonal directions) toward Mega Man. There are many variations of Mettaurs: some can walk, some can fly, and some can swim. Its attacks in Smash Run are similar to its attacks in the Mega Man games. In nearly every Mega Man game, a variation of the Mettaur has been seen (e.g. a Mettenna in the Star Force series).
