Subspace is a destructive force used as a weapon by the Subspace Army in SSBB. When unleashed, it swallows the surrounding area, sending it to an area, located near the end of the Subspace Emissary. Tabuu receives what has been taken from the world and uses it to make The Great Maze.
This is different from the Subspace of Super Mario Bros. 2.
