This page is about Ryu's up special. For Mega Man's Mega Upper, see here.

Shoryuken (昇龍拳, Rising Dragon Fist) is Ryu's up special in Super Smash Bros. 4. Ryu attacks using a powerful uppercut; he can also use this move to recover. The move's strength depends on how long the special button is held. Additionally, it can K.O. the opponent at higher percentage. Similar to Ryu's other special moves, performing the original arcade input of a Z (side, down, and diagonally down) increases the power. Performing the orginal input also gives the move invincibility similar to the original attack.

Origin

Ryu executes a Shoryuken on Ken in the arcade version of Street Fighter II

The Shoryuken is one of special moves used by Ryu, Ken, and various other characters in the Street Fighter series. It is a rising uppercut, involving the user jumping off the floor with a fist raised and a full body spin. Ryu's Shoryuken hits only once, and knocks the opponent down.
