Ludwig Ahgren Championship Series 5 is an ongoing Super Smash Bros. Melee invitational tournament held from July 7th-9th, 2023 by YouTube streamer Ludwig. It is the first tournament in the series to be held in-person, being in held Covina, California. 12 players were directly invited to tournament, and 4 more players qualified from the Open Qualifier on July 7th. The prize pool is $50,001, which is the ninth largest prize pool for a Melee tournament.

Format

The main singles event will have a total of 16 players, with 12 directly invited players and 4 players qualifying through the Open Qualifier. There will be Swiss system pools and a final double-elimination bracket. Swiss pools will work the same way as Ludwig Smash Invitational, but with one pool of all 16 players instead of two pools with 16 players each. In the Swiss pools, each player will play until they have won 3 sets, where they will qualify for the Top 8 final bracket, or until they lose 3 sets, where they were eliminated from the tournament. The Top 8 will play in the final bracket in a double-elimination format. All sets at the event will best of 5, in both Open Qualifier and main singles.[1] Swiss pools Rounds 1-3 will be played on July 8th, and Rounds 4-5 will be played on July 9th. The Top 8 final bracket will be played to completion on July 9th.

*Jmook dropped out due to a health issue. KoDoRiN was moved from the Open Qualifier to the main singles event as the replacement player.[2]
