{{SSBBMatchupTable|pit=yes}}
Pit has a good matchup spread overall. He is only countered by {{SSBB|Meta Knight}} and soft countered by seven characters. He goes even against twelve characters, soft counters eight characters, counters six, and hard counters {{SSBB|Ganondorf}}. He tends to excel against characters where he can gradually rack up damage without much trouble, such as {{SSBB|Snake}} and {{SSBB|Donkey Kong}}. Pit can take advantage of their difficulty in breaking opposing camping via Palutena's Arrows while being able to break through himself thanks to his higher mobility. However, Pit is vulnerable to getting overwhelmed by characters who are faster and can initiate heavy amounts of combos on him, such as {{SSBB|Meta Knight}} and {{SSBB|Ice Climbers}}. Meta Knight in particular will be able to find numerous opportunities to take the initiative against Pit due to the latter's reliance on Palutena's Arrows to camp and lack of responses to Meta Knight's fast attacks.
