(→‎Trivia: "On this stage" makes the sub-subbellet unnecessary. It's also a series first for the music to change with 30 seconds left, and besides that point is uninteresting anyways.)

**During the video that showed off Suzaku Castle, it stated that the music changing was a series first; this is false, as the {{SSB|Mushroom Kingdom}} stage in ''SSB'', and the {{SSBM|Mushroom Kingdom}} and [[Mushroom Kingdom II]] stages in ''Melee'', also had distinct music that would play near the end of a time match. However, the music on Suzaku Castle also changes when one player is down to one stock in a stock battle, which is a first for the series.
***If songs from this stage are selected in a [[custom stage]], the music will not change when the time changes.

These same kanji appear on Ryu's obi.

Suzaku Castle (朱雀城, Suzaku Castle) is a stage in Super Smash Bros. 4 based on Ryu's stage from Street Fighter II. The stage takes place on the rooftop of the Japanese castle, and features two long walk-off platforms on the right side of the stage and two smaller platform on the left side. Signposts located on the longest platform will break if a fighter is launched past them. Once all the signs are broken, they will eventually repair.

Ω Form

As the Ω Form of the stage consists of only the main platform centered without the smaller platforms and walk-off areas, it resembles a traditional Street Fighter match. Interestingly, the signposts can be broken even on the Ω version of the stage, making it the only Ω Form stage to have interactable parts (albeit background parts that don't affect the match).

Origin

Suzaku Castle is a stage in Street Fighter II. Ryu is the recurring fighter that the player has to face when they reach Japan.

Trivia

  • On this stage, if the current song playing is Ryu Stage Type A or Ken Stage Type A and the timer reaches 30 seconds in a timed match, or the last opponent has one stock left in a stock match, or when the last opponent's HP is under 100 in a stamina match, or during Sudden Death, a sped-up version of the respective song will play. This references Street Fighter II, where the stage music speeds up when a fighter loses half of their health.
  • The kanji written on the destructible signs are "風林火山", or "fūrinkazan", a Japanese expression meaning something along the lines of "As fast as the wind, as quiet as a forest, as daring as fire, and as immovable as a mountain", in reference to The Art of War. These same kanji appear on Ryu's obi.
  • The Suzaku Castle is the only downloadable stage bundled with a DLC character - in this case, Ryu.
  • On the Omega form of this stage, Ryu will walk right though a sign during his on-screen appearance if he is given the left-most or right-most spawn point.
