Friends playing a match on Battlefield, as depicted by Brawl's manual.

With Friends is one of 2 online multiplayer modes in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. 4, the other being With Anyone. In this mode, the player can only play with players registered on their friend roster. In Brawl, this is the only online mode where records are kept and names can be seen. Opponents will be able to see the player's profile icon and comment battle.

Regular Versus mode matches can be played with all the usual options, although Special mode and 8-Player Smash are not available. Players can set short custom messages to appear when they taunt in a With Friends match. Home-Run Contest and Multi-Man mode can also be played.

In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, voice chat can be enabled in With Friends, using the Wii U gamepad's microphone.
