With friends is one of 2 multiplayer modes on Wi-Fi in Brawl, the other being with anyone. In with friends, the player can only play with friends that they have on their friend list. Unlike With Anyone, records are actually kept and names will be seen. Opponents will be able to see the player's icon and comments about themselves before battle.
