The player controls a fighter of their choice and must win a 2 minute [[stock]] match against a team of thirty CPU {{SSBM|Yoshi}}s, including twenty-nine Yoshis and 1 giant Yoshi on the {{SSBM|Yoshi's Island}} stage. All thirty Yoshis have their [[artificial intelligence]] set to Level 4.


This event match simply pits the player against a herd of Yoshis, with the last one being giant. They all, however, are light and incredibly easy to KO. This event match is played on Yoshi's Island.
The Yoshis are lightweight and generally not difficult to [[KO]]. If the player is KO'd or if they do not KO all thirty Yoshis in 2 minutes, it will result in a loss.

There are many strategies in this event. Perhaps one of the best characters to use in this event is [[Pikachu (SSBM)|Pikachu]]. Constantly [[Spamming|spam]] [[Thunder]] to KO the Yoshis (including the Giant Yoshi).

Simply use down+B on all the light Yoshis, and a Giant Punch on the large one.

Constantly spamming up+B kills the small Yoshis easily. For the big one, you'll just have to keep hitting it until you can throw it off with up+B.

Use side+b to launch Yoshis upward or use down+b to take out several nearby Yoshis. The last one is a very large target for Captain Falcon's major killers, so add up some damage and try a [[Knee of Justice]].

The Yoshi Herd is the 24th event match of the 51 event matches in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

The player controls a fighter of their choice and must win a 2 minute stock match against a team of thirty CPU Yoshis, including twenty-nine Yoshis and 1 giant Yoshi on the Yoshi's Island stage. All thirty Yoshis have their artificial intelligence set to Level 4.

The Yoshis are lightweight and generally not difficult to KO. If the player is KO'd or if they do not KO all thirty Yoshis in 2 minutes, it will result in a loss.
