The radar helps alleviate instances of players self-destructing by losing track of the location of their fighter and removes most instances of players hiding off stage, making it easier for their opponent to perform aerial chases and edgeguards.

The Radar, sometimes refered to as a Minimap, is a user interface element introduced in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It appears during a game whenever a fighter is off-screen to keep track of their location and where the blast lines are.
