A '''shield-stop''' is using the [[shield]] to stop a [[dash]] animation immediately. This is particularly useful as a mindgame for running into the opponent when it is expected of the opponent to attack the player. This will then shield the attack and open up the opportunities such as [[shield grab]]bing, [[SHFFL]]ing, and [[punish]]ing. As with most pseudo-wavedashing techniques, the character will benefit more when their traction is lower.
