The Hocotate Bomb (ドルフィン爆弾, Dolphin Bomb) is an item from the Pikmin universe that appears in Super Smash Bros. 4. It is a new explosive item, modelled after the Hocotate Ship, that will fly offscreen into the sky, and then crash down when "least expected", seemingly indicating it will come down at random. It can also inflict damage upon flying towards the sky, and fighters who get caught up in its way may be KOed by the bomb itself as it takes them to the blast line.

Origin

The item appears to have two separate but related origins. The design of the item is clearly based on the Hocotate Ship from Pikmin 2, and its behaviour seems to be the same as End of Day, Olimar's Final Smash. However, there is also an item of identical effect from Kid Icarus: Uprising - the Boom Rocket.
