Odin, based on [[wikipedia:Odin|the Norse god]], is a recurring entity introduced in ''Final Fantasy III'' along with the Summon ability, who also made several reappearances in later games, often needing to be fought as a boss before being recruited. He attacks with his sword Zantetsuken (known as ''Steel Bladed Sword'' in ''Final Fantasy VII''), causing Instant Death to targets not immune to it. In some games, enemies immune to instant death take heavy non-elemental damage instead (known as ''Gunge Lance'' in ''Final Fantasy VII'').
