==Origin==
MegaMan.EXE is a character from the ''Mega Man Battle Network'' series of games, an alternate continuity to the "classic" ''Mega Man'' games. In this universe, revered scientist Tadashi Hikari creates several breakthroughs in the world of computer science, and his efforts posthumously create a functioning net society. This causes friction with his former friend and rival [[Dr. Wily]], as his efforts in robotics were ignored in favor of Hikari. Tadashi's grandson, Lan Hikari, is now living in the fruits of this labor. This includes his personal NetNavi, named Mega Man. This is actually Lan's twin brother Hub, who was put on to the data of a NetNavi. Their father, Yuichiro Hikari, was already experimenting with downloading humans directly into the net when Hub contracted a terminal illness known as HBD and died shortly after birth. Literally transporting his soul into a digital file was the only way to save him, which is exactly what happened. Lan and MegaMan look exactly alike, except for their eye color, though this feature later became identical to save MegaMan's life. The two make an amazing duo, seeing as they almost never lose a NetBattle. The two have saved humanity on multiple occasions; they have defeated Dr. Wily, who has come out of hiding to destroy the net society and now calls himself Lord Wily, as well as his son, Dr. Regal, time and time again.

MegaMan.EXE also appears in ''[[Super Smash Bros. Ultimate]]'' as a Legend-class [[primary spirit]].

In [[Adventure Mode: World of Light]], MegaMan.EXE is presumably one of the countless spirits captured by [[Galeem]] during his takeover of the universe. After Galeem's defeat, [[Dharkon]] takes control of Galeem's spirits, including MegaMan.EXE. MegaMan.EXE's spirit is located in the northern area of [[The Dark Realm]].

MegaMan.EXE's Spirit Battle uses three {{SSBU|Mega Man}} puppet fighters and is fought on the [[Hanenbow]] stage's [[Battlefield form]]. During the battle, the floor is electrified, while the Mega Man fighters each use a neutral or side smash attack, start off with a [[Bob-omb]], or start off with a [[Beam Sword]], each referencing the shooting-type, bomb-type, and sword-type Battle Chip programs that can be installed in the ''Mega Man Battle Network'' series.
